Tender God, you care for our tears and shower your love upon us. In trust we pray: Hold us in your mercy, O God.  

The unfolding of your Word gives light: shed your wisdom upon those who hold positions of authority.  

Hold us in your mercy, O God. 

Your utterance gives life: speak your love to those who are making difficult decisions.  

Hold us in your mercy, O God. 

Your reign is forever: give unending life to those who have died. 

Hold us in your mercy, O God.  

Our Father . . .  

May the love of God, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with us and remain with us. Amen.

Sister Susan Barber, OSB, is a member of the Benedictine Community of Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, KS. She received a master’s degree in Music from UMKC and a master’s degree from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Susan is currently the community’s liturgist. She is one of the community’s main organists and pianists. Susan graduated from Souljourners in 2018 and offers retreats at Sophia.
