God of the prophets, you inspired your servant Alphonsus to preach the good news to the poor. In company with him we pray: O God, listen to our prayer. 

Inspire Scripture scholars, translators, and preachers, and give your entire Church a passion for living and spreading your Word.  

     O God, listen to our prayer. 

Cultivate in the hearts of leaders your gifts of wisdom, honesty, and deep listening.  

     O God, listen to our prayer. 

Strengthen the fainthearted, and heal those who experience depression. 

     O God, listen to our prayer. 

Our Father . . . 

May God purify our hearts and lead us to walk always in love and truth, by the power of Jesus’ name. Amen.

Sr. Susan Barber, OSB

Sister Susan Barber, OSB, is a member of the Benedictine Community of Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, KS. She received a master’s degree in Music from UMKC and a master’s degree from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Susan is currently the community’s liturgist. She is one of the community’s main organists and pianists. Susan graduated from Souljourners in 2018 and offers retreats at Sophia.
