Lord Jesus,
you founded your Holy Church upon
your friend and servant, Peter.

For millennia, your Spirit has guided
the Church in selecting successors
to be the head of your Body on earth,
leading it through fair and stormy days alike.

We trust that your Holy Spirit
will again be present with all
who take part in the conclave,
bestowing gifts of Wisdom, Understanding,
Knowledge, and Counsel,
to inspire the selection of a pope
who will lead by your own
example of Mercy, Justice, Compassion, and Love.
